Mike opened his first restaurant, AnnaLena in the spring of 2015. Named after his two grandmothers to honour the important role they played in encouraging his imagination and curiosity, AnnaLena quickly earned its reputation for memorable cuisine, service and décor.
Within its first year, AnnaLena was included in enRoute Magazine as the sixth best new restaurant in the country and earned the Air Canada EnRoute People’s Choice awards. It has also been included for two consecutive years in Canada’s 100 Best Restaurants, and was included in the top 3 of Best New Restaurants in 2016 Vancouver Magazine Restaurant Awards following a glowing review in 2015. Robbins also won best chef, and best new restaurant in the 2016 golden plates in the Georgia Straight. With a clear focus on its vision and a committed and talented team, the best is yet to come for AnnaLena.
A life-long Vancouverite, Mike continues to draw inspiration from his upbringing on the city’s ethnically diverse East side while integrating these elements into the culinary education he earned from kitchens locally and abroad. Previously to opening AnnaLena, Mike was the executive chef of the Oakwood Canadian Bistro.
